Girls get a bad rap sometimes. I mean just look at what some of our articles on Elite Daily are like. Look at what I have written against girls. As much as the stereotypical girl annoys me, and as much as I complain about them, there are times when I feel like more people should sympathize with females.

Let me make this clear, I am still in no way a feminist. Often times I feel as if I was born in the wrong time period and would be better suited as a 1950’s housewife, which doesn’t go over well in conversation but whatever. Regardless of my personal views, I still feel like women are underestimated at times.

Don’t underestimate how much effort it takes to look good… for you.

I overhear a lot of conversations that guys have amongst each other, and one thing that really bothers me is when guys complain about a certain girl going out without makeup on or not decked out to the nines. Guys sit and complain about how awful girls look without make-up and laugh behind her back because she just didn’t feel like putting in that much effort that day.

Get over it, if I don’t feel like putting makeup on or getting out of my sweatpants I won’t, and if you think I’m ugly and unworthy of your attention then fuck off. I don’t want anyone that doesn’t want me so I could truly care less about what you think I look like when I wake up first thing in the morning.

It takes a lot of effort to get ready in the morning or for a night out. It’s like when my ex-boyfriend would tell me we needed to be somewhere in 15 minutes and I still needed to shower and get ready. He would complain about how long it took, but I can’t just shower in five minutes, walk out the door with whatever I found first in my closet on and wet hair. If I ever did do this, I would be completely ridiculed.

Guys should take seeing a girl without makeup on and turn it into a positive. Look at how much effort we put in to look good for you. Because trust me, if the world was solely female none of us would care about what we look like, and any girl who has ever attended an all girls private high school can attest to that.

Don’t underestimate how much work it is to run a household

This portion of the article doesn’t apply to those girls who are a) too young or b) don’t care but the majority of the time, the women are the head of the household. Women are always responsible for the cooking and the cleaning and raising the children. They’re responsible for making the plans, remembering your mother’s birthday, making your doctors appointments. Women are always responsible for everything that guys don’t feel like doing and that goes under appreciated.

Guys think that this should just automatically be done because that’s how the world works (I feel that way as well but again, whatever) and when it happens they don’t feel that the women should get a thank you. Remembering dates, cooking a meal and cleaning up takes a lot of effort and sometimes, we don’t want to do it. Give us some incentive to perform all the tasks you never want to do.

We deserve thank you’s always. If we cook you dinner, thank us. If we clean up after you, thank us. If we iron your dress shirts and lay your clothes out on the bed for the wedding we have to go to but you don’t really want to go to, thank us. Realize that if you don’t appreciate these actions someone else will.

Don’t underestimate our ability to work just as hard as you

Girls can get away with a lot more than guys can and that is a scientific fact. Have you ever seen a guy try to flirt his way into getting anything… successfully? I haven’t. When girls are aggressive and don’t back down, guys get intimidated and this works to the females advantage, especially when it comes to the business world.

Men automatically assume (even if you claim you don’t) that a woman can’t do a man’s job as well as he can. Well ladies prove the man wrong. It’s easy to apply yourself and be aggressive, I just feel like women don’t do that enough. Assert yourself and you will get just as far as men can if not further.

One of the greatest satisfactions I get is when people are pleasantly surprised by my capabilities. Ladies, have you ever done something that shocked someone? Have you ever done a man’s job better than he could? How great a feeling is that. It doesn’t necessarily have to be you working harder than a man either, you can work harder than a woman and get the same satisfaction.

Do more of this. Be assertive, be aggressive, know what your capable of and people will respect you. Don’t ever let someone underestimate you.
