If You Think Smoking Makes You Look Cool And Attractive, Think Again

by Candice Jalili

If dying a painful and horrible death wasn't enough to deter you from smoking cigarettes, a new study shows smoking will also salt your game.

Yep, that's right.

In addition to potentially giving you varying types of cancer, smoking cigarettes will also get in the way of you finding love, or at the very least, getting laid.

A new study conducted by Halo surveyed over 500 Americans to see how they felt about cigarette smoking when it came to their dating lives.

And as you might've guessed, smoking is a pretty big turn-off. Don't believe me? Check out the results for yourself below.

For the large majority of non-smokers, smoking is a total deal breaker in a partner.

About 64 percent of both non-smoker men and women agree that smoking is a serious deal breaker for them.

As someone who doesn't smoke, I see where they're coming from. There is truly nothing worse than having to inhale that scent when you're out and about, let along having to freaking stick your tongue in it.

Halo

Something else interesting was that even some smokers (12.7 percent of men and and 6.7 percent of women) agreed that they wouldn't date another smoker.

OK, so a lot of people don't want to date you, but is smoking at least ~cool and attractive~?

Well, in the literal sense, yes. Hah, get it? Because you're smoking? And that's fire? And fire's hot? OK, I'll stop.

But the study also looked into how attractive smoker and non-smoker considered smoking.

Halo

Over half of men (55 percent) and women (54 percent) agreed smoking is unattractive because, duh.

In terms of attractiveness, the large majority of nonsmokers agree that smoking (73 percent) is unattractive. For the large majority of people who do smoke (72 percent), smoking doesn't even make you any more attractive.

Broken down by gender, the results still show that the majority of men and women consider smoking an unattractive activity.

So the best case scenario you're looking at here is a neutral response? Awesome. Good for you.

Usually, I'm totally against quitting something you love just because someone might find it unattractive, but in this case, I'm all for it. Quit smoking. It's for your own good... because it will kill you.
