7 Trash Date Ideas People Make Fun Of That Are Actually The Best

Every day, some viral meme, post or tweet on social media is sent to inform you the cool thing you did on a date recently was actually trash.

So, you thought the place you went to the other day was sensible and fun? Yeah, no.

Actually, it was pretty tasteless of you... at least, according to the judgmental posts.

These posts pass themselves off as authoritative and credible advice, but they're really arbitrary hot takes. They're unrealistic when put into actual practice.

So, if you even thought about feeling self-conscious about a certain date you went on, don't worry: We're going to re-establish some order here.

Here are all the "trash" date ideas that are actually poppin':

1. Red Lobster

We have to start with this because just this week on Twitter, there was a spontaneous debate about going to Red Lobster as a date because a few people tried to imply such an idea was classless.

You know what my response to that is? This meme.

As a few other users put it, if it's good enough for Beyoncé, damn right it's good enough for me.

2. Popeyes In The Whip

Popeyes on its own is amazing, but there's a genius intimacy that comes with eating Popeyes in your car. Of all fast food restaurants, Popeyes is probably the one that's most likely to make you look like a savage while eating it.

I mean, let's be honest: Fried chicken just has that effect. But you and your girl don't have to worry about that when you're eating in your car.

So, is Popoyes in the whip a date, you ask?

Hell yeah it is.

3. McDonald's At 2 AM

Popeyes' fatal flaw is it's not always open when you want it to be. Rarely do you ever have to worry about that with McDonald's.

If you have a solid McD's around you, you can just chill together at the crib, and decide to make the drive whenever the craving hits you... as opposed to rushing when a certain store closes.

McDonald's gives you convenience. Don't let anyone look down on your McDonald's.

Just make sure she's not too tired to do anything afterward.

4. Applebee's 2 For $20

Applebee's, Friday's, Chili's: It doesn't matter where it's at. You do one of those deals on a Friday with your significant other, and guess what? You have enough money to do something on Saturday.

Let's not act like we're too bougie for common sense now.

I promise that's the last time I'll use that meme. But am I lying?

5. Netflix And Chill

It seems like there's this expectation "Neflix and Chill" is only for locked-up couples, and you're supposed to take someone you're casually dating out all the time.

Let's keep it 100, though: Going out takes work. The guy usually has to waste time thinking about an idea, and the girl has to spend time getting ready.

C'mon, son. Let's stop acting like we really want to do that.

We don't: At least, not all the time.

That's what "Netflix and chill" was made for.

6. Matinee

I kid you not: Catching a movie during the day – aka, a "matinee" – (I promise you I'm not trying to rhyme, OK?) is one of the best, under-the-radar date ideas.

We just assume it's a no-no because the societal norm when it comes to seeing a movie as a date is to pick up your date at night. But not only are matinees cheaper, there are fewer people in the theatre during the day time.

I'll let you decide what you want to do with that extra privacy.

7. Picnic

Listen, young bucks: Let me put you up on game real quick. Screw what you've heard about these $200 dates; a free ass picnic is where it's at.

It's a triple threat.

First off, you're making food by yourself, and everybody loves someone who can cook.

Secondly, you're thinking of something no one else has. That's unique.

Thirdly, if you do it someplace nice – I'd suggest Central Park for any of you in the Metro area– you have some clichéd scenery.

Bottom line? Stop listening to these Facebook experts. Your dates are fine.
