Hinge's New Feature Lets You Set Your Friends Up On Dates So You Can Play Matchmaker

If we all had a dollar for every time our friends lamented over how single they are, then we could probably all afford houses AND as much avocado toast as we wanted. It's like, uh, how do you want me to fix this for you, Becky (who's probably been single for a total of 22 minutes and 38 seconds)? Well, now, there's a solution for you and Becky. (You're f*cking welcome, Becky.) Basically, dating app Hinge is rolling out something called Hinge Matchmaker. What is Hinge Matchmaker, you ask? It's a new app, created by Hinge, that allows you to set up your friends and family on some potentially ~hot dates~. WOW, YOU GUYS. I always wanted to be a matchmaker ever since I watched Fiddler on the Roof for, like, five minutes one time. This is a huge dream come true for me.

Now, the way the app works is actually pretty simple. After downloading Hinge Matchmaker and logging in, the app will pull information from your Facebook friend list (only the ones who have Hinge profiles, that is). The app will then show you two of your single friends on Facebook at a time, and the power is in your hands to decide whether or not you think those two people would be a solid match. No pressure or anything, though. IT'S NOT LIKE THE FUTURE OF YOUR FRIENDS' LOVE LIVES IS IN YOUR HANDS. Lol. I'm fine.

If you decide Becky and that guy you know who's coincidentally named JAY-Z would be a good match, you can "connect them," and they'll see each other on the regular Hinge app after that. From there, they can choose if they want to get the conversation going or not. Or, if you don't think they'd be a good match, you don't have to connect them. After all, we all know what happened the last time someone nicknamed Becky and someone coincidentally named JAY-Z connected.

I know what you're all thinking. You're done with matchmaking, because any time your crazy aunt Carol tries to set you up with somebody, it's a disaster. But let's be real: Your close friends know you. They know what kind of people you like. And Hinge is well aware of that.

"We're dedicated to helping our Members find meaningful connections and Hinge Matchmaker is one more way we can deliver on that promise. Since your friends often know your type better than you do, why not give them the power to help you find the one?” said Justin McLeod, Founder and CEO of Hinge.

Another cool feature of this app is that it has a certain "lock" feature. This means that if there's one friend whom you know you just need to set up with SOMEONE, you can choose to "lock" their profile and keep looking for potential matches for that person only. Also, if you know two people with Hinge profiles who would be just perfect for each other, you can also suggest your own match by searching for the both of them and connecting them! Wow! You are such a good friend!

"Everyone loves the idea of setting up their single friends," McLeod continued. "People play matchmaker in the real world all the time, but there has never been a way to do it properly online, until now. We're excited to see how many more real dates, relationships, marriages and families Hinge can make happen with the introduction of Hinge Matchmaker."

OK, but what if you know your friends would be perfect for each other, but just don't have the Hinge app? You also have the option to invite them to join both apps because you are a great matchmaker committed to your craft and won't let anything get in your way.

And of course, if you do have the Hinge app already, but this new app has you feeling like, "Nah, the last time my friend set me up with someone, I was emotionally scarred for, like, four months," then you do have the option to make yourself invisible on Hinge Matchmaker.

So IDK about you guys, but I'm 100 percent about to achieve my lifelong matchmaker dreams. All my friends, beware.
