5 Reasons Guys Are No Longer Expected To Make The First Move

by Samantha Cohen

Historically, when it came to making the first move, it's no secret it was usually a man’s job.

Well, I’m here to tell you that is now both an outdated and silly idea. Millennials around the world are no longer dating by these rues, and you shouldn't, either.

Here are five reasons why every woman should consider making the first move:

1. Traditional dating has changed.

The stereotypical relationship between a man and a woman starts out with the guy making the first move and the woman waiting on it.

Why should he always be the one to make the first move?

Ladies, it’s the 21st century, and the dating game has changed.

There are no rules that say he needs to be the one to call you first.

It’s time to step up to the plate and show the guy you’re interested in you can take initiative, too.

2. Confidence is sexy.

The saying “confidence is key” is 100 percent true. A guy is attracted to a woman who knows what she wants, and more importantly, he loves a woman who can take action and go after what she wants.

Taking initiative may be scary at times, but it shows confidence. And we all know confidence is sexy.

So, what are you waiting for?

3. Making the first move is empowering.

Fairy tale endings do exist, but you don’t always have to be the stereotypical “damsel” in distress, waiting on Prince Charming to sweep you off your feet.

You are a strong and independent woman who is perfectly capable of taking your happy ending into your own hands.

Not only is it empowering to take things into your own hands, but it will also make you feel really good about yourself.

4. People love having their feelings validated.

Whether you're a man or a woman, we all have insecurities.

The age-old assumption is women are too afraid or too insecure to make the first move because they're scared their feelings won’t be reciprocated.

The fact is, guys have those same doubts.

So, why should they always be the ones to put themselves out there and make the first move?

I promise you, ladies, he wants to be validated in his feelings just as much as you do.

5. What do you have to lose?

Taking a leap of faith is always scary at first, but it’s usually worth it.

The worst case scenario is you don’t get a call back. So what?

Sure, it may stink at first, and it may even be a little embarrassing. But in the grand scheme of things, how much does it really matter?

If he didn’t call back, then it wasn’t going to work out anyway.

Risks are worth taking, which means phone calls are worth making.

It’s time to pick up the phone, ladies, and make the first move because times are changing.

The finger is pointing to you.
