Elite Daily was fortunate enough to sit down with DJ superstars Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano to get their input on the EDM scene and on life itself.
These two got their start in the music business 10 years ago. Sunnery talks about how large of an influence the music his mother played in his household had on his career. DJs like Eric Morillo and Bob Sinclair were also heavy influences to the pair as they familiarized themselves with the dance music scene. They love the groovy, big sounds the Swedes brought into the industry.
They realize how difficult it is to be a duo in the music industry. They started DJing not for the sake of performing, but for the desire to succeed together as great friends. Here at Elite Daily we can completely relate to this since this is similar to our vision. They really wanted to make something out of their lives together that they could thrive from.
They further explain how if they ever had to choose between a career and a friendship, it would without a doubt be the friendship. James and Marciano really value the bond they have between each other more than anything. They have not allowed the immense success they have been experiencing to corrode that bond.
Sunnery explains that regardless of what career path you take, you need to work hard, be honest and have fun. Their number one rule is to always have fun doing what you love. Money is put in the backseat when it comes to friendship and family.
Each realizes the importance of family; Sunnery actively flies from location to location to spend time with his wife and son. Ryan frequently travels to Amsterdam to visit his brother and friends. With this type of career, making time to visit with family is quite difficult. They both realize this and go to whatever lengths they can to spend this time together.
For example, Marciano’s mother lives in South America, so when they are performing in Miami she flies in. Meeting in the middle is sometimes what it all comes down to. Regardless of the amount of success these two achieve, what remains constant is their love of each other and their family and friends.
