Fans Are Making This Connection Between Alexandra And Another Marvel Group

Marvel's The Defenders premiered it's first season on Netflix today, and you know what that means: Time for the crazy fan theories to begin! Because The Defenders is a culmination of DaredevilJessica JonesLuke Cage, and Iron Fist, there is a buttload of material for fans to rifle through. But even though it's only been a day, some fans already think they're onto something — a connection between Sigourney Weaver's character, Alexandra, and IGH. So, are Alexandra and IGH connected on The Defenders?

In case you forgot, IGH is the paramilitary group we saw in Jessica Jones that provided the "combat enhancer" pills that gave Jessica her super powers. The problem with those pills is although they increase physical strength, they end up damaging the taker's mind.

Alexandra, on the other hand, is a brand new character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who is not in the comics. Before The Defenders premiered, all we knew about her was that she was some sort of adversary towards our heroes, and that she was played by Sigourney Weaver. So back in the day, a lot of fans were speculating that maybe the new and mysterious Alexandra was involved with IGH.

However, now that The Defenders is out in the open, we know that Alexandra is actually a lead member of the Hand, the evil ninja organization from Daredevil and Luke Cage. Alexandra and the Hand are obsessed with cheating death, "the substance," and karate, but there was no mention of any business with IGH.

So while it was a good guess for the little information we had on The Defenders and Alexandra at the time, I think it might be time to call this fan theory. Especially considering the way we left things with Alexandra at the end of the season (no spoilers, but it was not so great.) There's always Season 2 of course – but whether a Season 2 is actually happening is still up in the way. RIP, little fan theory that could. You tried.
