If you're a fan of Broad City, you remember the episode where Ilana finds that when Abbi gets blackout drunk, she turns into a nightclub performer named Val.

What you might not know is, Broad City's Val is based off a real-life, drunk Abbi Jacobson.

At the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, Jacobson and Ilana Glazer spoke with press and fans at their Broad City panel all about their upcoming Season 4, future guest stars, and even showed an (amazing) episode from the new season.

During the fan Q&A, Jacobson and Glazer were asked where they got the inspiration for Val.

AJ: How we came up with her was... in college, when I was drinking in college, I would drink Southern Comfort, which is disgusting. Disgusting. IG: There was that song… 'SoCo lime' or something, ew! AJ: Yeah. Um… me and my friend Mike would just drink and I would ... I would black out, basically, and he would be like Val's coming out tonight! And it was legit Val.

Jacobson did admit that Val on the show is a little bit different than Val in real life. She said,

Val on the show is way more fun than Val in real life. Val in real life … I remember I got in a fight with a friend of mine who was staying at my apartment. We were in, like, the front hall. She was, like, in from out of town, staying with me. We had gone out. We were in the lobby … We're inside my front door and -- she re-enacted this for me the next day -- I was like 'I do not live here. I don't know what you're saying, you don't live in this city, man. I don't live here.' She's like, 'This is your key. We're in the building. You live upstairs. You gotta stop.' And so that was my real Val.
