According to the Hollywood Reporter, AMC has just picked up “Low Winter Sun”,  a crime series based on the 2006 Simon Donald British miniseries by the same name.

The series revolves around the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective, and is described as “a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. ”

Mark Strong, known for his appearance in the British miniseries, will star alongside Lennie James. Criminal Minds executive producer Chris Mundy will serve as showrunner.

“Endemol [Studios] and Chris Mundy have produced a beautiful pilot with an incredible cast led by the insanely talented Mark Strong,” AMC’s executive VP of original programming, production and digital content, Joel Stillerman, said of the pick-up. “We’re thrilled to be moving forward with this compelling and intense new drama and look forward to returning to Detroit for production on the first season.”

Season one will consist of ten hour-long episodes.
