America’s Reigning Royal Family: The Kardashian Clan
You might hate them, you might love them, but you most definitely will not be able to escape them any time soon. The Kardashian family has become a household name across the nation.
With their own reality kingdom, spin-off shows, fashion lines, and glorified public appearances, the Kardashian’s certainly know how to manipulate American media, and we undoubtedly want more.
As of November 27, Kim Kardashian tops the list for Bing search engine as the most searched person of 2012, beating out Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and Lindsay Lohan. The girlfriend of fashion mogul and rap icon Kanye West, Kim Kardashian is certainly a walking business to be reckoned with.
The socialite has dipped her perfectly polished fingers in the reality television pool as well as successful ventures in fashion, modeling, acting, and even singing, as seen on The Kardashian’s: Dishing It Out on E!. According to Forbe’s Magazine, Kim reportedly made $18 million in 2012, up from $6 million in 2010.
Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian-Odom have maintained a less hectic but public nonetheless life since getting married and having kids. The two remain active owners of boutiques, and continue their modeling careers and spin-off shows.
The Kardashian sisters launched their high-end fashion boutique DASH, which has expanded from West Hollywood, California, to Miami Beach, Florida, and SoHo, New York. The boutique sells women’s clothing and accessories.
Rob Kardashian recently released his own sock line, Arthur George, on sale now at Neiman Marcus. The vibrant colored sock line is a great stocking-stuffer for the upcoming holidays.
The head of the clan most associated with the term “Momager”, Kris Jenner, knows how to brand each of her children perfectly. Jenner reportedly has a net worth of $20 million thanks to her business savvy skills and unbelievably attractive, picturesque offspring.
Then there are the male affiliates of the family, Scott Disick and Lamar Odom. Scott Disick, recently self-re-titled Lord Disick, is a successful restaurateur, businessman, and television personality. Lamar Odom is currently a forward for the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, if by some highly improbable reason you have become bored to tears of the Kardashian sisters, no worries, there is a new generation of socialites in the making. Kendall and Kylie Jenner have already begun their modeling careers at the ripe age of 17 and 15, respectively.
Kendall is the brand ambassador for Seventeen Magazine alongside her sister Kylie, as well as a television personality and high school student. The oldest daughter has done photo shoots for Forever 21, OK!, Teen Vogue and Seventeen Magazine.
Kendall and Kylie have also hosted several Fashion Week events.
The Kardashian’s have been featured on Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s, Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloé & Lamar, Kendall’s Sweet 16, and if that was not sufficient enough media coverage for them, E! True Hollywood Story did a feature on the million-dollar family not too long ago.
Bruce Jenner’s previous children have also grown up in the limelight. Twenty-nine year old Brody Jenner can be classified as an American television personality, socialite, and model. Jenner produced and starred in The Princess of Malibu. He later went on to maintain a recurring and eventually permanent role on MTV’s The Hills. Jenner also executive produced and hosted the short-lived reality show, Bromance.
So for all you Kardashian-haters, it is clear you need to put your jealousy and insecurities aside because this is one family that has become a permanent staple in American pop culture.
