Here’s a weird alternate future for you. While receiving a Career Achievement Award at the Casting Society of America’s annual Artios Awards earlier this week, Ben Affleck revealed a previously unknown tidbit of information about Showtime’s award-winning, ratings juggernaut of a series, Homeland: He was supposed to direct the pilot.

Apparently, due to an agreement he made with wife Jennifer Garner about compromising when it came to their careers and their family, Affleck was forced to drop out of the commitment because Garner had the opportunity to do a film, and he had to stay with the kids.

“I was sure nothing would happen with the show,” Affleck joked during his speech. “Now I hate the fucking show. I’ve never seen it. I’m going to attach myself to 14 pilots this year.”

Considering that Homeland just sweeped the recent 2012 Emmy Awards and, once again, achieved record-breaking ratings for Showtime just this past week, we don’t blame him. But luckily, it seems like things did work out for the best – Homeland is a successful series, and Affleck went on to direct, produce, and star in Argo, which was great, and successful as well.

“Transcendence” isn’t a very good movie. It has the setup to be a thought-provoking, sci-fi, action flick, without any real action or thought of which to speak. It’s essentially the last 20 minutes of “Her,” spread glacially over a two-hour-and-twenty-minute run time. The biggest problem with “Transcendence,” however, is that it foregrounds and obsesses over its technology at the […]

Introducing The Greatest Feline Villain Of All Time: Bane Cat

Normally I’d hesitate to post video consisting almost entirely of Bane jokes because it isn’t 2012, but timeliness is irrelevant when something makes me laugh. Luckily, this video from Robs Rants did exactly that. This appealed to me so much is because if I had to compare every cat in the world to a fictional […]

17 Times I Would Rather Be Lied To Than Be Told The Truth

The truth will set you free. I know this. I know that the unexamined life is not worth living and that honesty is always better than flattery. I know that truth is wisdom and lying will get you to hell. I know that lying is never right, but sometimes, the truth just hurts too much. […]
