Raquel Smith –one of Beyonce’s stylists– is the latest individual to sue the Revel casino and resort, claiming it lost a piece of her luggage that contained roughly $135,000 worth of jewelry and clothing.
Raquel and the rest of Beyonce’s entourage were in town for a highly publicized concert series in late May, just after Revel became the first resort to open its doors in Atlantic City in nine years!
In a complaint filed Dec. 19 in federal court in New York, Smith said that after she checked in on May 22, Revel moved her from the seventh floor to the 40th, and lost her luggage in the process.
The resort’s staff managed to produce four of her five bags, but one of them was lost and Revel offered no restitution, Smith’s attorney charged.
Inside were $107,550 in gold-and-diamond bracelets, two watches worth $2,800 apiece, $3,140 in clothing, and other items, for a total of $135,000, according to invoices and retail appraisals Smith filed along with her complaint.
Smith’s attorney accused Revel’s staff of negligence for “failing to properly and timely transfer plaintiff’s luggage,” for possibly losing or stealing it, and for “violating (its) own rules and regulations.”
Maureen Siman– the spokeswoman at Revel– said the resort had “not been served or made aware of a formal complaint.” Smith’s attorney, Kevin P. O’Keefe, did not respond to a request for comment today.
