9 Celeb Couples Who Broke Up Then Got Back Together, Proving True Love Is Real

Our collective hearts were broken by the news that Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are getting "legally separated." The couple of 8 years announced their split on social media on Sunday, Aug. 6, saying they've been working hard for a long time on their marriage, but it's just not working out.

The couple said in two separate social media posts,

We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.

The fact that Chris Pratt and Anna Faris can't make their seemingly wonderful marriage work in the craziness of Hollywood is painful proof that celebrity couples are the most unstable relationships in the world. But hey, we still love them. And not all hope is lost for Pratt and Faris! There are a good handful of celebrity couples who broke up then got back together, so maybe they will, too! (PLEASE.)

Here's a breakdown of all of the Hollywood heartbreaks that ended up being Hollywood happy endings:

1. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth started dating after starring in The Last Song together in 2010. They allegedly started dating while filming the movie in 2009, and they broke up for the first time in 2010. But that breakup didn't last very long, as they were back together a few months later. They broke up one more time in 2010 before getting back together a couple months later... again.

Cyrus and Hemsworth got engaged in June 2012 and the entire world sobbed tears of joy. But then we sobbed tears of actual sadness when they called off their engagement in 2013 after (but not because of) Miley's infamous twerking performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMAs. Later that year, Cyrus released the single and video for "Wrecking Ball," basically confirming she and Hemsworth were done for good.

Or so we thought! Come January 2016, rumors started circling that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth got back together, as Cyrus posted a selfie on Instagram that showed her wearing the engagement ring Hemsworth proposed to her with back in 2012. The pair was seen together many times throughout the rest of 2016 before Cyrus confirmed their engagement was back on in October 2016. Now, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are couple goals once more. What a time to be alive.

2. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Timberlake and Biel reportedly started dating in 2007. They were first seen publicly together at a wedding in 2008. In a 2008 interview with GQ, Biel said, "Justin Timberlake is the one part of my life that I own," confirming they were together. They stayed strong until 2011, when they briefly broke up for three months. The reportedly got back together in the fall of 2011, and thank god, honestly, because I love these two. A lot.

Engagement rumors started circling in 2012, and then Timberlake's grandma accidentally broke the news that the couple was, in fact, planning to tie the knot. After that, Biel started wearing her engagement ring in public in May 2012. She was first seen wearing it at the 2012 Met Gala.

And finally, Timberlake and Biel got married in a secret wedding on October 19, 2012, in Italy. Timberlake reportedly sang while Biel walked down the aisle and there wasn't a dry eye in the house that day. Biel also iconically wore a pink gown instead of the traditional white. Timberlake and Biel's adorable son, Silas, was born in April 2015, and Timberlake shared the first photo of him on his Instagram a couple weeks later.

3. Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo

Adam Levine had a history of dating Victoria's Secret models before he started dating (and eventually married and had a daughter with) Behati Prinsloo, a Victoria's Secret model. Levine and Prinsloo were seen kissing on a beach in Hawaii shortly after Levine and ex-girlfriend/Prinsloo's fellow VS model Anne Vyalitsyna broke up. According to US Weekly, Prinsloo was envious of Levine and Vyalitsyna, as she always had a thing for him. A source told the outlet, "Behati always had a crush on Adam. And she was a little jealous of Anne."

The pair dated for about a year when they reportedly broke up in May 2013. The breakup wasn't a sudden one, according to US Weekly. A source told the outlet, "Behati was in and out, but they finally ended it. It wasn't an abrupt ending." During this time, Levine was seen with Sports Illustrated model Nina Agdal. But literally just two months later, Levine and Prinsloo were back together and Levine had reportedly proposed to Prinsloo in LA.

One of Levine's reps told US Weekly, "The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles. He realized he really does love her and she was the one. They are in love." When talking about Prinsloo, Levine has said, "She makes me the best person I can be. She's the best in the world." The couple got married in July 2014 in Mexico, and their daughter, Dusty Rose Levine, was born September 21, 2016!

4. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are probably the most stunning couple in existence. They started dating back in 2009, and according to US Weekly, weren't in a rush to get married since both of them had already been married before. Union said on Access Hollywood back in 2012, "If the goal is forever, what are we rushing for?" Amen. The same year, Wade said to Oprah, "She makes my eyes sparkle." WHAT?! How freaking perfect!

The pair were reportedly good friends before they started dating in 2009, but then they broke up briefly in 2013 due to "distance and scheduling," according to reports. But Union decided to give the relationship another chance, and lucky she did because Wade proposed very shortly after! Union and Wade got engaged in 2013 at the construction site of their new home (with the assistance of Wade's two sons, Zaire and Zion), married in August 2014, and they've been living happily ever since!

5. Prince William and Kate Middleton

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge became friends after they met at St. Andrews University in 2001. In 2002, they moved into student housing together with two of their friends (remember, at this point, they still aren't dating), and Kate Middleton broke up with her boyfriend at the time in 2003, which is reportedly when her romance with Prince William started.

Will and Kate became public about their relationship in 2005 when they started appearing in photos together, and they looked smitten on their graduation day in 2005. By 2006, the two started their own careers, but in 2007, Will and Kate reportedly broke up. The breakup didn't last long, and they were engaged by 2010. In an interview following their engagement, Will was asked about the breakup. He said,

We were both very young … and we were both defining ourselves as such and being different characters, it was very much trying to find our way and we were growing up, it was just a bit of space, things like that and things worked out for the better.

Prince William and Kate Middleton now have two adorable children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

6. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie

YOU KNOW NOTHING, JON SNOW... except the details of your relationship with Rose Leslie, of course. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie first met when they were co-stars on Season 2 of Game of Thrones. Harington plays Jon Snow, obviously, and Leslie played the wilding Ygritte. The characters fell in love on the show, but her character was tragically killed at the wall. But Leslie exiting the show didn't stop their relationship!!

Nope, the dating rumors between these two started when Harington and Leslie were seen on what looked like a dinner date in London in 2012. The rumors grew even stronger when they attended the Game of Thrones Season 3 premiere in Seattle in March 2013. They weren't acting like a couple, but they did walk the red carpet together. Their relationship was pretty much confirmed at this point, however.

About one year later, Harington and Leslie broke up, but a source confirmed to US Weekly that Harington and Leslie were back together, which confirmed the reconciliation rumors that started circling after the two looked very happy to be at Comic-Con 2014 together. They made their relationship official when they attended the Olivier Awards together in 2016, and Harington talked about falling in love with Rose Leslie in an interview with Vogue Italy. And now, according to reports, they're living together! But she still thinks he knows nothing. Allegedly. Maybe. OK, fine. I just made that up.

7. Evan Peters and Emma Roberts

Evan Peters and Emma Roberts is one of those Hollywood couples that's on-again, off-again, but fans are obsessed with this American Horror Story love story. They first met on the set of their film Adult World. The two are staples in the American Horror Story franchise in their own right, but they've also shared the screen together on the show. Roberts told Chelsea Handler in Jan. 2014 that she and Peters didn't start dating until after Adult World finished filming. She said,

We met on the movie. Everyone thought we dated on the movie and we didn't, not for a long time after. I actually, on the set, was like, 'Oh yeah, we're totally gonna date.' And I would like flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye because I'd be like, 'Hey, what's up?' And he literally didn't speak to me the entire movie. He thought I was so weird.

There's been some trouble in their relationship, though. Roberts was allegedly arrested in 2013 for suspicion of domestic abuse against Peters after a fight in a Montreal hotel room. Peters didn't press charges, and Roberts was released shortly after the incident. Their teams issued a joint statement to People saying, "It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."

And move past it they did, as Roberts and Peters got engaged five months later! But after being engaged for over a year, Roberts and Peters broke off the engagement and went their separate ways for a while. This is where the on-again, off-again stuff started. They got back together three months after they ended their engagement, and then, nine months after that, they broke up again. Roberts started dating Christopher Hines during this breakup, but she ended things with him after a short relationship and got back together with Peters.

Roberts and Peters have been together ever since, but they're not engaged. They're both part of the upcoming American Horror Story: Cult cast.

8. Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green first met when Green was a guest star on Fox's comedy, Hope & Faith in 2004. Fox said she had immediate feelings for him, and they started dating as a result. They moved in together in 2006 having been together for two years, but when Fox became more popular after her role in the Transformers franchise and Green was acting on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, rumors started floating around that there was animosity between the two over their fame.

They reportedly got engaged in 2005 and stayed that way until 2009 when they broke off their engagement. The two are 12 years apart in age, and Fox said to US Weekly at the premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in June 2009 that,

Marriage isn't a realistic goal for someone who is 23, that's all. I just wanna concentrate on becoming a better person before I try to commit to being someone else's wife.

They got back together at some point in 2009, though no one's sure when, and Green got real about their breakup in an interview, saying a lot of it had to do with their age difference. He said,

She was 18 when I met her, and she went through an enormous change in her life because of her career in general. So she went through the natural period of, 'I'm not sure if I'm ready to be in such a settled relationship.' I have an 8-year-old, and he was 2 at the time that Megan and I met. She helped me raise him, and that's a huge responsibility.

Then, in 2010, they announced they were engaged again and got married in a secret ceremony two weeks later. Fox was 24 at the time, and Green's son, Kassius, was the only person in attendance. Fox and Green welcomed their first child, Noah, in 2012, and their second son, Bodhi, in 2014. In 2015, citing irreconcilable differences, Fox filed for divorce from Green.

But in 2016, Fox announced she and Green were expecting their third child, so their divorce was put on hold and they've been together ever since! That's 13 years together, people. Fox posted the first photo of the couples' third child, Journey, on October 26, 2016.

9. Kind of but not really: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

I only include Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick because their relationship was defined by breaking up and getting back together. They've been on and off so many times, who honestly knows if their current breakup will be for good?

Anyway, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick met back in 2006 at the Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis' house in Mexico. They were together for three years before breaking up in 2009 because Disick reportedly cheated on Kardashian, but when they found out Kardashian was pregnant with their first son, Mason, they back together. Mason Disick was born in December of 2009. Keeping Up With The Kardashians had been airing for two years at that point. In 2010, Disick was drinking a lot and it almost led to the pair breaking up again. Kardashian said in an episode ofKourtney and Khloe Take Miami,

You're not going to be around Mason while you're working on yourself. There's not even a 1 percent chance ... I can't do this anymore. I love Mason more than I love you. And that's what it is.

Disick actually proposed to Kardashian a short time after that in 2010, but she said no, and the scene was aired on the season premiere of KUWTK. Yikes. Even though she rejected his proposal, the two stayed together. They welcomed daughter Penelope Disick in July 2012.

Disick then went through a tragic time when both of his parents died within three months of each other (his mother in November 2013, his father in January 2014). A little bit after this, Kardashian found out she was pregnant with their third child, Reign Disick, but Disick didn't come home to her when she told him. He said he was "so angry" about losing his parents while he was still so young. Disick went to rehab two months later in September of 2014, and Reign Disick was born in December 2014.

Then, a couple of months after Reign was born, Disick went back to rehab. The couple had stayed together since 2010, but after Disick left his second rehab stint and was seen on a yacht with a bunch of models in July 2014, Kardashian dumped him. They've been broken up ever since, but Disick has tried to win her back with no avail. They've been co-parenting for a couple years now, but Disick has been having a lot of random flings and Kardashian is currently casually seeing model Younes Bendjima.
