Courteney Cox Said Brangelina Split Is 'Not About' Friend Jennifer Aniston

Once a friend, always a friend. (Cue "Friends" theme song.)

When the spotlight shifted away from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce to what Jennifer Aniston thought about this split that came out of nowhere and made us all question the mere existence of love, Jen's buddy Courteney Cox stood up for her.  SHE'LL BE THERE FOR YOU.

Her advice for everyone still reeling over the untimely end of Brangelina? BACK AWAY FROM THE ANISTON, Y'ALL.

While at Revlon's Annual Philanthropic Luncheon at the historic Chateau Marmont, the 52-year-old told ET,

I feel like we're exacerbating it by even talking about it. It's not about her.

Courteney certainly has a point.

Even though Jennifer was married to Brad for five years, the two split way back in 2005. That's over a decade ago. If I had dated anyone in 2005, I probably wouldn't even remember them by now!

But I didn't because I was a lonely junior in high school at the time, with a soul patch and a mop top. And yes, I definitely still remember that.

This comes on the heels of Aniston's current hubby Justin Theroux putting his foot down over Jennifer's inclusion in all this "nonsense" drama. The actor told Business Insider,

There are bigger things to bitch about. It's shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world.

Although, Justin did say he felt sorry for the split couple's six children,

As a child of divorce, all I can say is, that's terrible news for those children and that's all you can really say. It's boring to comment on anything else. People are having a bad time -- that's horrible.

Also, mad props to Justin for dealing with all the questions about how Jennifer is her ex-husband's second divorce. That's got to be annoying AF.

I think we can all start a collective slow cap for Courteney Cox. She's the best friend Jennifer needs at a time like this.
