The Miss Universe organization launched an investigation after a contestant claimed that the pageant is fixed. In retaliation, Donald Trump said that he is planning to sue the woman behind the accusations.
Former Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin dropped out of the Miss Universe competition yesterday. Monnin claimed that a fellow contestant saw a list with the top 5 contestants before they were announced.
Monnin said that the pageant is “fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy.”
But Miss Universe owner Donald Trump told Today that Monnin’s comments are “ridiculous,” and the organization plans to sue her for her claims.
What we’ve authorized today is we’re going to bring a lawsuit … She said some really strong things. When she’s using the word ‘fraud,’ that’s pretty strong, so we’re going to be suing her on that basis.
A Miss Universe rep said that Monnin really resigned because she disagreed with the organization’s decision to allow a transgender woman to compete.
