Mickey Hart is being hunted by police for allegedly assaulting a fan at a concert. A warrant has been issued after the musician was accused of assaulting a spectator at a Mickey Hart Band show on September 8 at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
It is still unclear what actually happened, despite the victim filing a police report shortly after the incident and initiating the charges. It is standard practice in Kentucky to issue a warrant as soon as an alleged victim decides he or she wants to press charges.
Hart has yet to make any mention of the incident on his website or on Twitter. According to his website however, he is currently in Ozark, Arkansas for a show at the Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Music Festival.
Hart, whose real name is Michael Hartman, played with the iconic hippie favorites from September 1967 to February 1971.
He also had a second spell with the outfit, which lasted from October 1974 to August 1995, when they officially dissolved following the death of band leader Jerry Garcia.
However Hart has continued to work with his former band mates, first under the moniker The Other Ones, before they changed it to The Dead in 2003.
He has also had a successful solo career, with his 1991 album Planet Drum spending 26 weeks at number one on the Billboard World Music Chart for 26 weeks, and also winning him the first ever Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.
