She’s had a rough ride in the romance stakes, and has joked that she ‘stinks at marriage’. But Halle Berry has not given up on finding her Prince Charming as it appears the 45-year-old actress and French actor Olivier Martinez are engaged to be married.

A source has confirmed the happy news to Us Weekly magazine and Halle, who despite her two previous marital failures has said ‘he’s a keeper.’

Martinez, 46, reportedly proposed with an emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan which the Catwoman actress has been seen sporting recently.

The actress was first pictured with a ring on her wedding finger as early as December 29, leading to speculation that Martinez planned a Christmas proposal.

She has been careful to keep the ring turned around to just look like a plain band in recent weeks, but gave photographers a glimpse of the stunning stone during an outing in LA yesterday.

For Berry, who has a 3-year-old daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, this will mark her third trip up the aisle.
She dated handsome model Aubry, 36, for almost five years before their acrimonious split in April 2010.

Halle’s love life has been fraught with hard times. An ex-boyfriend beat her so badly that she was left partially deaf, her first marriage falling apart caused her to attempt suicide and her second marriage ended because her husband was allegedly a sex addict.

Halle wed former baseball player David Justice in 1993, divorcing four years later.

The actress has spoken publicly about contemplating suicide after the end of her first marriage. ‘It was all about a relationship,’ she told Parade magazine in 2007. ‘My sense of worth was so low. I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn’t love me didn’t mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again.’

She then married R&B singer Eric Benét in 2001, only to separate in 2003 and finalise their divorce in 2005.

She has previously revealed that the couple were in counselling to combat Benét’s sex addiction after just a year.

Of her second marriage, Halle said: ‘I knew this time I had a right to set boundaries and say, “This isn’t OK for me.” I knew that it wasn’t my fault. If I hadn’t gone through the first breakup and made that promise to myself this would have leveled me.’
