Jared Leto Sent Margot Robbie A Pet Rat While In His Role As The Joker

by Adam Pliskin

Jared Leto is taking his role as the Joker in "Suicide Squad" very seriously.

He delved so deep into the part, he sent a live rat to Margot Robbie, the actress who plays Harley Quinn.

I suppose Leto thought it was something the Joker would do.

Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the film, told E! News,

He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it — a live rat. It was beautiful.

Originally, Robbie kept the rat and named it Rat Rat. Although crew members on the film suggested she kill the thing, the actress disagreed.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Robbie said,

If Harley got something from Joker, she'd probably cherish it.

However, the rat no longer lives with Robbie.

It actually resides with director Guillermo del Toro. Jai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang in the film, revealed that little tidbit in the interview below.

The rat apparently made its way to del Toro via a costume designer who worked on the set of "Suicide Squad."

The director said,

The rat is living with us in Toronto and he, and his massive ballsack, provide the house with great cheer and joy! We have re-named him Venustiano.
