According to Deadline, Jessica Simpson will be starring in a pilot presentation for a comedy based on the singer’s life. The pilot iscurrently being developed by Nick Bakay and has been ordered by NBC.
“I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life,” Simpson said of the series, “so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!”
Hopefully Jessica’s acting has gotten a little better since 2005′s The Dukes of Hazzard!
The series, should it be picked up, will be produced by Bakay, former co-Chairman of NBC Universal Ben Silverman, and Jessica’s father Joe Simpson.
“Jessica Simpson is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops,” commented Silverman, who clearly hasn’t seen The Dukes of Hazzard.
“From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica’s character approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud.”
