Justin Timberlake’s ‘Suit & Tie’ Breaks Billboard Records
Justin Timberlake’s anticipated return has been quite successful to say the least. Billboard reports that Timberlake’s new single, “Suit & Tie,” is now the song with the highest first-week plays total in the 20-year history of the pop songs chart.
“Suit & Tie,” Timberlake’s first single since his 2006 album “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” received 6,045 plays in its first week, from Jan. 14 to Jan. 20.
Timberlake blew out former record-holder Lady Gaga, whose “Born This Way” reached 4,602 plays during its first week in February 2011.
Featuring Jay-Z, “Suit & Tie” has already reached No. 14 on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart. This number also gives Timberlake the record for the highest-debuting song by a male artist.
Here’s what Justin Timberlake had so say in regards to his anticipated album ”The 20/20 Experience.”:
”The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn’t expect anything out of it,” Timberlake said in a letter to fans. “I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I’ve had in my career.”
“The 20/20 Experience” is expected to drop sometime this year.
