Kim Kardashian is taking the necessary steps she needs to feel safe again.

According to Entertainment Tonight, two sources reveal the 36-year-old reality star and Kanye West fired the bodyguard who was with Kim on the night she was robbed in Paris.

Pascal Duvier, 43, has been with the Kardashians since 2012. He went to France with the family when Kim, Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were there for Paris Fashion Week.

While Kim was home alone in her hotel room, Pascal accompanied her two sisters as they went out partying in the town.

A source explained to ET,

Pascal, along with a couple other security members of their team, were recently let go by Kim and Kanye. It's a pretty tough situation overall and they love Pascal, but they couldn't take any more chances.

The night of the robbery, five masked men broke into Kim's place and held her at gunpoint. The mother of two was gagged and bound and forced to plead for her life.

Since the attack, the Kardashians have increased their security at public appearances and events. A source told ET they are now rethinking the security measures they need to take. The insider explained,

Kim and Kanye are reassessing their security detail now. Kanye is freaking out -- this really threw him for a loop...There will be a lot of things that change now in terms of security, especially with the children [3-year-old North and 11-month-old Saint].

When Kim Kardashian first flew back to the states, Pascal Duvier was spotted escorting the couple as they arrived at their New York City apartment.

The decision to let the bodyguard go must have been a difficult one for the family, but it looks like they're doing everything they can to keep their children and their own lives safe.
