From Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe to Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian, our culture has seen celebrity women reach new heights of prominence and influence. The media can easily market a beautiful face, but within the past few decades these alpha women have become the most sought after and influential women in the world.

For years the UK’s Victoria Beckham has gone unrivaled by any other woman in terms of fashion influence, celebrity stature, and net worth–until now, that is. One thing is undeniable: Kim Kardashian has become the female force to reckon with.

Victoria Beckham was not the only powerful female celebrity in the world, but she certainly was a global icon for beauty, high fashion, femininity, and aggressive entrepreneurial prowess for women. She became an icon for the 21st century woman and her marriage to David Beckham forged one of the most prominent power couples in the world.

The striking beauty of these women has captivated the attention of the media since day one, but as Posh has gone on to become a mother, Kim Kardashian’s unparalleled branding endeavors has led her to the forefront of the paparazzi’s pursuit. Regardless of your personal tastes and affinity for pop star over reality TV star, it is undeniable that these two women are at the forefront of influencing the alpha females we know and love.

Whether it is through staggering TV ratings, billboard chart toppers or setting box office records, new celebrities are born every day. But what are the factors that can take an individual from their fifteen minutes of fame and tail spin her into a legacy of influence and celebrity? Victoria Beckham found the path when she was catapulted into international fame along with the Spice Girls during the 1990′s.

Along with her celebrated marriage to English striker David Beckham, Posh has become a style and fashion icon designing and launching a slew of brands from denim, fragrance, sunglasses, handbags, and jewelry. Experiencing just as much success in her branding endeavors as in her music career, her brands and endorsements grossed her an estimated $48.5m according to Celebrity Networth.

While Victoria’s celebrity status is impressive and has been incredibly lucrative, her fame was built on the firm base of her recording career. For any artist to make it in the music industry and make the push into stardom, their success must ushered by numerous individuals with deeply lined bank accounts. However, the success of the Kardashian family was built on their relentless drive.

The true icon of Generation Y

During the 1990′s Kate Moss influenced fashion and the emaciated “heroin chic” look was in. Eating disorders were plaguing young women on a global scale and fashion trends were set for an unattainable and unhealthy self-perception. While Victoria Beckham embodied these health and style trends, that is hardly the actual figure of the women we love in 2012.

Gen Y understands the stark contrast between what fashion trends prescribe and the reality of what a woman’s self-expectations should be. Kim Kardashian epitomizes the new breed of woman: self-confident, curvaceous, and unashamed of her lovable imperfections.

Entrepreneurship

Kim Kardashian has inspired young women to strive for success that extends beyond the traditional standards of the idle housewife. Reality TV has flooded television networks following an enormous surge in popularity, providing opportunities for countless psuedo-celebrities and aiding in the pursuit of their fifteen minutes of fame.

But Kim has taken it a step further and transcended her role in Keeping Up With The Kardashians star to attain a flood of wealth. Although critics may try to write off her fame as an overnight success through extensive branding, we understand that there is nothing but a high degree of calculation and business savvy behind the pulchritudinous vixen.

A new business model

When The Real World penetrated mainstream culture over a decade ago the concept of a reality TV star was unheard of. Many individuals had been able to turn their 15 minutes of fame into 45, but the Kardashians have inspired a generation of business savvy women that understand the importance of branding and staying relevant in the media.

While the Beckhams: Coming To America series was hardly a network success, Kim Kardashian displayed her business savvy and capitalized on her success by building an empire off her publicity. From branded debit cards, apparel, footwear, dietary products, liquor, laser hair removal, and luxury lollipops, it has become difficult to find any endeavor untouched by the beautiful woman.

The alpha woman

If you have yet to attain the success you envisioned while planning your life, you are solely responsible for rectifying the situation and catapulting yourself to success. Despite the varied hand of cards Kim has been dealt, she has always maintained the determination to turn a negative into a positive. In her wake, the image of submissive women–both socially and professionally–is something very difficult to fathom.

The media and women across the world have become more supportive of the new age of the empowered alpha female. Kim Kardashian is in a league of her own, and while Victoria Beckham certainly bears the honor of paving the road for the new breed of alpha female, the Kardashians have taken it into a league of their own.
