Since The Parent Trap, Lindsay Lohan’s troubled youth has been the target of every media outlet as she single-handedly employs paparazzi and magazine from coast to coast.

The once extremely talented actress began her career as a delectable childhood star appearing in films such asThe Parent Trap, Life-Size, and Freaky Friday. Lohan was born in New York City and spent her early days in Merrick, Long Island. By early teenage hood, Lohan was a show-business expert having countless commercials, modeling jobs, and an established acting career under her belt.

The success of Mean Girls in 2004 transformed Lindsay into a highly desired item earning her millions and various hosting opportunities afterwards. But with success come responsibilities, and the loss of an ordinary upbringing and being thrown into adulthood as a young teen began to weigh on the actress.

Despite suffering from asthma almost since birth, Lindsay had been seen in several magazine smoking cigarettes outside various clubs and restaurants. The attending of alcoholic anonymous meetings began in 2006. Alcoholic addition now began interfering with her career.

The starlet’s sporadic stints in rehabilitation centers began in early 2007 when she spent thirty days at the Wonderland Center in Los Angeles. Barely four months a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge plagued the actress after Lohan collided her Mercedes-Benz with a curb in Beverly Hills, California. Lindsay checked into Promises Treatment Center in Malibu after the accident, rumored to be an alleged publicity stunt or in lieu of public apology.

Lindsay Lohan left her second stay in rehab a changed woman. Psych! Lohan was charged one month later with drunken driving once more, however, this situation proved more severe. The infamous celebrity was caught with possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license. By the end of 2007, Lohan appeared in court on several occasions, served time in county jail, and continued her unsteady pattern in rehab.

In 2008, the media began focusing on Lohan once again, this time for relationship hearsay. The star was continuously being seen with Samantha Ronson, an English DJ and sing-songwriter. The relationship was published as a romantic one, and Lohan’s sexuality was thrown under public scrutiny. But as Lohan’s love life seemed to be the only stability in her life, her family life began to crumble.

Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s father, was no stranger to the legal system. In the early 1990s, Michael served a few years in prison for insider trading and was later released on five years probation. Lindsay’s career and choice in management began to ruin the marriage between Michael and his wife Dina. After filing for divorce, Michael seemed to follow his daughter’s troubled relationship with the media. Michael Lohan was charged in different instances for attempted assault, driving under the influence, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, amongst other later legal issues.

Dina Lohan’s record is not much better than her ex’s. The mother of four has remained under negative public opinion for years due to her “supporting” of her children’s careers. Dina has been seen benefiting from Lindsay’s success, attending countless events and late nights at clubs with her daughter. Ms. Lohan also publicly detached herself from Lindsay’s battle with alcohol and drug abuse, seeming unsupportive of her daughter’s health concerns.

Merging business with family proved too difficult for the Lohans once again when Lindsay and Dina publicly fought again resulting in police interjection. Dina’s economic standing reportedly was the issue at the heart of the argument, which led to a messy and puzzling situation with involvement from Michael Lohan.

“I’m really regretful about the argument I had with my mother and it being made public,” Lindsay Lohan reported to TMZ. “Mothers and daughters fight. You know, I called my father and told him some really hurtful and untruthful lies about my mom. My mom does not do cocaine, clearly. And that’s a fact.”

After the fight, Lindsay pleaded to her father to help make accusations that Dina was on cocaine. Michael later released a recording of the conversation with his daughter, leaving Lindsay feeling betrayed. After the whole situation, Lindsay went on to tell TMZ that Michael “doesn’t know what it means to be a father. He doesn’t want to be a dad.”

The future at this point does not look too promising for the Lohan clan. Fame is a privilege that few manage to acquire. However, the quick accumulation of wealth and life under the public eye proves to challenging for many. The lifestyle leads to the downfall of many, and if the Lohans do not take their situation seriously, Lindsay could be the next lost Hollywood soul.
