A Canadian actress accused of stalking Alec Baldwin has been jailed for violating a restraining order. New York City police detectives arrested Genevieve Sabourin at a Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday for violating an order of protection barring her from contacting the 30 Rock actor and his wife Hilaria Thomas.
Sabourin was in court Tuesday after her lawyer asked to be taken off the case.
Earlier this year, a judge ordered Sabourin to stay away from Baldwin following her arrest on harassment charges.
However, recent news reports said she had been tweeting angry comments about Baldwin’s new yoga instructor wife.
‘Alec Baldwin wife Hilaria REAL name: Hilary Hayward-Thomas.LIED wile call 911 on me w her false name.I’ll file 4felony,’ she wrote on Tuesday, according to the New York Daily News, directing the tweets to Thomas’s Twitter feed.
Baldwin and Sabourin met on the set of the 2002 sci-fi comedy The Adventures of Pluto Nash, in which he had a cameo and she was a publicist. Baldwin says they had dinner together back in 2010 ‘just to give her career advice,’ he said in the original career complaint.
The newspaper adds that Sabourin told the court her life ‘had been ruined’ by the charges that she sent ‘dozens of emails to Baldwin and about his then-fiancée Hilaria,’ as well as showing up at his homes in the Hamptons and the West Village earlier this year.
The criminal court judge granted a request by her lawyer, Maurice Sercarz, to be removed from the case because she couldn’t pay her bill and refused to take his advice on settling the case.
The New York Daily News reported that Sabourin was lead down the hallway after her court appearance with her hands cuffed behind her: ‘I’m asking why I’m being arrested,’ she said. ‘They won’t tell me.’
