Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has decided to part ways with his girlfriend Megan Rossee, a Los Angeles-based aspiring model and actress, as he felt the relationship was ‘not going anywhere’.

Phelps – worth a  $40m – had been dating the stunning 25-year-old  for nearly ten months.

TMZ reported: ‘ According to our sources, Phelps felt the relationship wasn’t going anywhere, so he decided to end it so he could pursue other options.’

The couple had made their romance official by making an appearance together on the red carpet at a Speedo-sponsored event in August in London.

Rossee frequently spoke of her relationship with Phelps on Twitter, posting a number of intimate photographs of the renown swimmer.

On December 20 she posted a childhood photo of the Phelps, writing: ‘He’s gonna kill me for this but it’s too adorable not to share! m_phelps00 how sweeeet was your little face.’

But just a few days later she retweeted quotes from Janis Joplin and Sex And The City, writing:

‘Some people are settling down…some are settling…and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.’

Her willingness to publicize their relationship had led some to believe that she is only in it for the fame!

‘Michael is like a puppy dog around Megan – he’s completely in love with her,’ a source told Radar recently.
‘However, like any young girl hoping to make it in Hollywood, she’s ambitious and knows that by associating herself with Michael she will get a lot of press herself.
‘She’s desperate for her own fame – her career has been a slow-burner but this will certainly accelerate it.’
