Oprah May Run For President And Twitter Is Already Begging Her To Save Us

Now that celebrities are apparently allowed to be president, why shouldn't we at least elect a good one?

It looks like Americans might be getting their chance to upgrade Oprah Winfrey from media mogul to leader of the free world in 2020.

Oprah Winfrey appeared on Bloomberg's "The David Rubenstein Show" this Wednesday and teasingly implied that a presidential run may not be out of the realm of possibility for her.

Noting how Donald Trump got elected without any prior political experience, Winfrey admitted that the recent election has got her thinking about jumping into the next race.

I actually never thought that that was — I never considered the question even a possibility. I just thought, oh, oh... I thought, 'Oh gee, I don't have the experience, I don't know enough,' and now I'm thinking, oh, oh.

I mean, if part of her campaign is giving every voter a free car, I'm so in.

Unfortunately, Oprah's run for president may not actually come to fruition. CNN pointed out that later in the interview, the talk show host clarified that she doesn't actually intend to run for president; she was just shocked at how a person can be elected who apparently knows so little about politics.

She had also denied any plans to run for president in an interview with Stephen Colbert last month.

Despite this, Twitter is already exploding with people elated at the notion of President Oprah. Check out some of the best reactions to the new below.

Of course, Oprah Winfrey would not be the first celebrity to announce an intention to run for president.

Obviously, our current president gained his fame as a reality television star, and major celebrities like Kanye West, Roseanne Barr and even Lindsay Lohan have stated their intention to actually run for the office.

While it sounds like President Oprah may not actually turn out to be a reality, we can still hold on to the hope that she at least had a passing thought about leading our country.

Hey, maybe that could grow into an actual presidential campaign in some time? She's got four years to mull it over!
