She is famously open about her struggles in her song lyrics and her hit So What saw her mark her break-up with Carey Hart. And while the married couple, who have a  daughter named Willow Sage, are now going strong once again, Pink has said her relationship still isn’t always smooth sailing.

The star has spoken out about the way in which she continues to draws on her tough experiences when it comes to writing music. She opened up to the latest issue of Billboard magazine, for which she also stars on the cover.

The 32-year-old said: ‘It’s funny. I wrote Family Portrait when I was 21 and my parents divorced when I was nine, so I tend to hold onto things. I’m still exorcising some of those demons.

‘And look, I’m in a relationship that I’ve been in for 10 years and it’s never going to be perfect. Carey always jokes, “You’re always just mad enough at me to write a song.”’

She humorously said she responds to her beau with the words: ‘“Yep. Thanks, baby, you’re my muse.”’

The cover of the August 25 issue of the music magazine sees the singer’s lean figure forming the letter ‘I’ in ‘Pink’. She can be seen sporting black lace leggings, matching court shoes and a matching jumper, over a white shirt with the collar turned up.

Pink also chatted to the publication about why she reckons she has had more success in the UK than the US. She explained: ‘I was always on the road in the UK and Australia, and things were really great over there.

Then I got to come home and be left alone. And you know what? It gave me lot of time to create my show and to become a performer.

‘I would go on 22-month tours and work my a** off, and it’s been the biggest blessing of my life that now I am a touring artist. It got me out of the popularity contest that music can be sometimes and gave me time to hone my craft as a stage performer.’

She added: ‘I’m also grateful, and I got to come back and do the Grammys [in 2010]. That was my “A-ha”.’

Bikini Bodies: Why Feeling Good In Your Bathing Suit Is Half The Battle

I, like every other bagel-addicted woman, have a complicated relationship with summertime. Or more specifically, the parts in which we prance around practically naked with nowhere to hide. Those moments especially suck. But what’s even more anxiety-provoking than the actual swimsuit part is the slow build up to bikini season. The few months leading up […]

Rihanna Scores Lead Role In First 3D-Animated Film Starring Black Heroine

It’s pretty sad that in 2014, no major Hollywood studio has released a 3D-animated movie starring a black protagonist. But all that is set to change (it’s about time) with a soon-to-be released film, “Home.” DreamWorks Animation Studios will finally include a black female as the animated movie’s heroine, adding her to the ranks of […]

Maybe you’ve glanced around recently and found yourself as the only person in your friend group not frolicking into a new romantic venture. Believe It Or Not, Pre-16th Century Art Predicted Hip Hop (Photos)

Rap is an art form that doesn’t get the respect it deserves. As the revolutionary RZA recently proclaimed, Wu-Tang’s one of one album is as rare as the Mona Lisa (perhaps even rarer, in its pursuit of truth and musical equality). Tumblr is a digital world of possibilities. There are wild yahoos, and then there’s […]
