Ryan Gosling is known for keeping his private life, well, just that.

However, he recently stopped by the set of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and showed a very different side of himself.

The 36-year-old actor started the party off by criticizing Ellen DeGeneres' greeting, which inspired the host to jump into Gosling's arms and give him a great big kiss on the cheek!

How's that for a grand entrance?

DeGeneres and Gosling eventually got to talking about his two daughters with longtime partner, Eva Mendes.

Mendes and Gosling are parents to 2-year-old Esmeralda and 7-month-old Amada, and although he usually stays mum on the subject of his family, Ryan Gosling told Ellen all about spending the holidays with his two daughters.

Speaking about his 2-year-old, Gosling said,

I don't think she understands that you can ask for something just yet. It's a real sweet spot, where you give her anything, you know.

Ellen DeGeneres also pressed Ryan Gosling on his latest film, "La La Land," which is now in theaters.

Speaking of the film, Gosling awkwardly addressed the sweating problem of his co-star and good friend, Emma Stone. The 36-year-old said,

I thought it was odd for the first two weeks when she was rehearsing in a wetsuit. But she doesn't sweat all over -- she just a few very active sweat glands. It's like poking holes in a waterbed. It's just a few of them, so if you stay out of the way, you'll be fine.

Um, OK.

The movie does look pretty lit, and Gosling revealed to Ellen he actually learned to play piano for the role.

Speaking about "La La Land," Gosling said,

The music in the film I think is really beautiful, so it was fun to learn how to play it.

I know what movie I'm seeing this weekend!

In any event, happy holidays, Ryan Gosling!
