Sherman Hemsley, AKA “George Jefferson” from The Jeffersons has died at the age of 74 at his home in El Paso, TX.

This TV icon started his career on All in the Family which was subsequently turned into a spin-off, The Jeffersons. It is from this hit series that he gained worldwide stardom.

Appearing in shows like House of Payne, Family Guy and The Fresh Prince of Bel-air served to bolster his very successful career.

In 1989, Hemsley even released a hit single called, ” Ain’t that a Kick in the Head.”

Hemsley did not have a spouse or any children.
