Maybe the Ukrainian reporter didn’t get exactly what he wanted when he tried to kiss Will Smith, but at least he got some kind of kiss – a kiss with a fist.

The popular actor, 43, was all smiles when he spoke about the incident during an interview on the Late Show with David Letterman.

He kept a good sense of humor about the situation, and just summarized the situation by saying “it was just awkward.”

The reporter and TV prankster came forward to apologize for the situation.

On his show, Letterman bothered Smith about the incident at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black 3, exclaiming that Smith “beat up a guy who was trying to hug [him].”

Laughing, Smith said he “didn’t beat up a guy!”

Smith then told Letterman and the audience what happened.
