She was spotted in good spirits last weekend as she took her two sons to the supermarket. But it may well be that actress Amy Poehler was putting on a brave face.
For the 40-year-old Saturday Night Live favorite has announced today that she is separating from her husband of nine years, actor Will Arnett. The comedic star and her partner confirmed the news to Us Weekly.
Sources have said that the split is ‘very amicable’. The couple were married in August 2003 and have two boys together, Archie, three, and Abel, two.
The pair have often appeared alongside each other in TV shows such as Arrested Development, and in the films Blades of Glory, Horton Hears a Who!, On Broadway, Spring Breakdown and Monsters vs. Aliens.
Will has also been a guest star in Parks And Recreations, Amy’s hit NBC show. Will went on to tie the knot with Amy after divorcing his former wife of one year Penelope Ann Miller in 1995.
Just last weekend Amy was smiling proudly as she took Archie and Abel out for a stroll in Los Angeles. The actress was positively gleaming as she held her toddlers’ hands as they hammed it up for the cameras. Amy had taken the boys out for some grocery shopping in Beverly Hills on Saturday afternoon.
The actress was dressed down in a simple grey V-neck dress nipped at the waist. And it was clear the boys are taking after their mother, posing up for the camera and smiling for snaps.
Her three-year-old Archibald William Emerson Arnett, who goes by a more manageable Archie, was dressed in a Batman T-shirt and blue and red Hawaiian shorts, and was quick to flash a wide grin as he held on to a ‘Happy Birthday’ balloon.
Meanwhile, his two-year-old brother Abel, was cute as a button in a blue and white striped tank top, blue shorts and sneakers. Amy just wrapped filming on They Came Together with Paul Rudd.
In the film she plays a small business owner who is about to lose her shop to a major corporate development, while Paul’s character works for the conglomerate in the David Wain film, out in 2014.
Filming has meanwhile begun on Amy’s latest project, You Are Here. The Matthew Weiner comedy, co-starring Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson, will be out next year.
Amy’s next comedy, A.C.O.D., co-starring Jessica Alba and Jane Lynch, will be out later this year.
