Swatting: Hollywood’s New Planking

Why certain trends trend is basically impossible to figure out. I tried to comprehend why ‘planking’ ever became as popular as it did and was left with a 3-day long migraine.

However, ‘swatting’, though most certainly illegal, is pretty damn funny.

Swatting’s most recent victim is no other than Tom Cruise himself. A swat team was dispatched to Cruise’s Beverly Hills mansion after they received a phone call stating that there was a gunman at Cruise’s house. Not only was there no gunman at the house, there was no Cruise either.

So who made the call? Currently we have no idea. It is no doubt some brilliant, fearless teenager spitting in the face of the Man- who will undoubtedly be caught and end up doing some jail time.

Cruise is not the first to fall victim to such a genius prank. Other victims include Justin Beiber, Charlie Sheen, Miley Cyrus, Ashton Cutcher, and Simon Cowell.

Although, it remains unclear if the swat team that entered Sheen’s house did so because of a prank call or because he was hosting dinner for an entire whorehouse (I kid).
