After Five Years Of Marriage, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Divorcing
After just 5 years, hundreds of terrible tabloid covers, rumors of a media scam and an adopted Asian child, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are divorcing. And we here at Elite could not be happier. Celebrities may know their star power, but to abuse it to make headlines only takes advantage of a slavish public and a hyper-ego’d Hollywood. Just take a look at Spencer and Heidi.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe said. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
“Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out,” Amanda Lundberg said.
In the fall of 2006, after much media popularization and celebrity television PDA, the twice married Cruise, 49, and Holmes, 33, were married at an Italian castle.
Make that thrice divorced, now.
Cruise’s Oprah Winfrey Show taped interview made headlines as well for beginning the start of a tumultuous and weird marriage.
“I can’t be cool. I can’t be laid-back,” said Cruise. “Something happened and I want to celebrate it.”
Maybe he will celebrate this separation as well.
