Her design career has been followed closely by fans ever since her role in reality show The City where she worked for designer Diane von Fürstenberg.

And tonight, Whitney Port showed how far she’s come from those early days as she soaked up the applause after launching her Spring 2013 Whitney Eve clothing line on the New York Fashion Week catwalk.

The 27-year-old reality star showed off her long slim legs in a grey and white patterned mini dress and black blazer as she stepped out on the catwalk at the Lincoln Center, after the show.

She looked delighted as she smiled and waved to the crowd, with the front row consisting of reality star Kelly Bensimon, Elle fashion director Joe Zee, models Nicole Trufio and Jessica Hart and actress Charlotte Ross.

She even posted a picture of herself waving on the catwalk, with the caption: ‘Can’t Believe It’s Over.’

Whitney aims her designs at ‘girls like me,’ adding on her website: ‘I design for what my style aesthetic is, what I want to wear, my sisters, my best friends.

‘The Whitney Eve girl is someone who loves fashion, has a lot of fun with it; is not afraid to take risks and loves textiles, color and patterns.’

Whitney, whose net worth is estimated at $3.5million, was asking for money on the internet to fund today’s runway show.

Seeking $50,000 to pay for models, hair, make-up and a DJ, The Hills reality TV star made her plea through the crowd-funding site, Indiegogo.

Asking fans to give donations to her label, Whitney Eve, ranging between one dollar and $450, the reality star said in an accompanying video: ‘I’m doing something that’s never been done before: the first-ever fan-supported fashion show at fashion week in New York.’

In exchange for her fans’ donations, Whitney was offering recognition, or ‘perks’ such as ‘a personal thank you on Twitter’ ($5) and a front-row seat at the show ($450).

Meanwhile, Whitney’s City co-star Olivia Palermo was also checking out the New York fashion shows today, arriving at Marchesa and Rachel Zoe’s catwalks.

The reality star sported a split black maxi skirt, T-shirt and belted beige blazer for her stint among the fashion It crowd.
