Cersei Just Dropped Major News On ‘GOT’ And No One Saw It Coming

HBO

It's the major plot twist none of us were expecting! On the new episode of Game of Thrones, Cersei Lannister dropped a bombshell that will change the entire war for the Iron Throne in a huge way. Spoiler alert for Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 "Eastwatch."When Jaime returned to Cersei after his disastrous battle with Daenerys Targaryen, she gave him just the hope he needed by revealing Cersei's pregnant with Jamie's child. Yep — there's a new Lannister on the way, and that could change everything.

As fans already know, Cersei and Jaime already had three children in the past, but all of them wound up meeting horrific ends in recent seasons — Joffrey was poisoned by Olenna Tyrell, Myrcella was poisoned by Ellaria Sand, and the only non-poisoned Lannister, Tommen, committed suicide after witnessing his mother explode the Great Sept. Of course, those three children actually went by the last name Baratheon to hide their incestuous origins, as Cersei claimed they were born from her marriage to the late king Robert Baratheon.

But with Robert long dead, how is Cersei going to explain the new little rugrat? The answer: she's just saying "F— it" and not hiding her incestuous relationship with Jaime any more. We already saw her invite a servant into her room while she and Jaime were naked in the bed last episode, so she's clearly done trying to hide the already pretty open secret of her and Jaime's incest. In the new episode, she tells Jaime she will openly refer to him as the father of the new baby.

Obviously, this could lead to a lot of backlash. I mean, incest is never really welcomed with open arms. But then again, pretty much all of Westeros already knew Cersei and Jaime were banging long before now, it was just never publicly spoken about. The real news is Cersei finally has an heir to the throne... that is, if she can survive long enough to give birth to him or her.
