Ellen DeGeneres Responds To Caitlyn Jenner's Opinion On Gay Marriage

by Eitan Levine

Like many of us, Ellen DeGeneres was confused about Caitlyn Jenner's stance on gay marriage.

During an interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” DeGeneres recounted how Jenner stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” recently to push “I Am Cait.”

While Caitlyn was there, the question of marriage equality came up, and Caitlyn's response wasn't as steadfastly pro-gay marriage as you would think.

You can watch the interview here.

At one point during the talk, Jenner, who defined herself as a traditionalist, said,

If that word 'marriage' is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.

After that comment, DeGeneres mentioned how it seemed like Jenner still wasn't 100 percent on board with gay marriage before pointing out the whole debate has to do with equality, which was exactly what Caitlyn has been fighting for since her Vanity Fair spread.

When talking with Howard Stern, DeGeneres went a little further into what she thought about Jenner's take on marriage.

She told Stern,

She... still has a judgement about gay marriage... You're wanting people to understand and accept you, this is like really confusing to people, and you still have a judgement about gay people and marriage... She said if the word marriage is that important, and I was like, it is because that's the word... We want the same thing everybody [wants].
