According to Coming Soon, Universal Pictures has recruited Angelina Jolie to direct the WWII drama ‘Unbroken.’

This will be Jolie’s second feature film behind the camera after she made her directorial debut on 2011’s In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Unbroken is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s 2010 novel Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. Take a look at the synopsis for the book below:

Originally published by Random House in 2010, the book follows the incredible life story of Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner of war camp.

The book has sat atop the New York Times bestseller list for more than 108 consecutive weeks, fourteen of those at number one. It was also the winner of the Los Angeles Times Book of the Year Award for Nonfiction.

Is The Fifth Installment Of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Pushing It, Or Just Enough?

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies are nothing short of a cinematic cultural landmark. Taking inspiration from the mildew-smelling Disneyland ride, the films have monopolized the modern pirate movie market. One of the franchise’s primary reason for success is thanks to the brilliance of Johnny Depp. Depp has held some pretty iconic roles, from Edward Scissorhands to […]

Video Showing You Everything From Your Childhood Will Leave You Oozing Nostalgia

It seems that everything we held near and dear as kids is now being turned into a movie. There’s Michael Bay’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie. There’s Michael Bay’s “Transformers.” There’s “The Lego Movie.” And now Wil Wheaton brings us “Literally Everything Else From Your Childhood: The Movie.” Obviously, this isn’t a real movie, but […]

Get Started On Your Resolutions: Why You Don’t Need A New Year For A New You

We are lazy people. Let me rephrase that: We have a general inclination towards laziness. There, that’s a little less offensive. However, since there is this general inclination towards laziness, I shouldn’t expect much backlash for being offensive. After all, being offended takes energy; you actually have to do something to express your anger. So, […]

The ‘Sharknado 2′ Trailer Proves That Not All Sequels Are Created Equal

Buckle your seatbelts, motherf*ckers. The trailer for “Sharknado 2″ is here. The Syfy original movie is hilariously titled “Sharknado 2: The Second One” and it looks balls-to-the-wall crazy. It’s so crazy, in fact, that the narrator in the trailer literally says “f*ck it” half way through, stops talking and lets the madness take hold. This […]

The Real Reason We All Make Decisions That We Know Are Not In Our Best Interest

We’ve all heard that bad decisions often make for good stories, but have you ever really thought about why we make bad decisions? People often fail to make choices in their best interests. This goes against nearly everything we believe to be true; it even goes against the primary assumption of the free-market economy that “behavior […]
