First ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Trailer Is Here And Baby Groot Is The Star

Hands down, Baby Groot is the star of the first “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” trailer.

With its May release date fast approaching, it was only a matter of time until we saw some concrete updates from Marvel’s oddball space-action franchise.

Today we got just that as the movie’s first poster and mini-trailer were uploaded to the web, and boy effing howdy does this movie look like it’s going to kick major Groot.

James Gunn, who wrote and directed both “Guardians” movies, uploaded the movie’s first poster to his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages in preparation of the mini-trailer’s release.

In case you missed it, Baby Groot also makes a small cameo on the poster.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista and Glenn Close are all set to make their return in “GOTG2.” Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are also coming back to voice Rocket and Groot, respectively.

Sylvester Stallone is the most notable addition to the franchise, securing a mystery role in the sequel. Kurt Russell will also be making his “Guardians” debut as Ego The Living Planet.

The entire internet has joined forces to communally freak out over the trailer’s release.

If there is one winner from the trailer, though, it’s CLEARLY Baby Groot.

Marvel is going to make 100 trillion dollars off this little tree alien.

I guarantee you there is some conference room on the studio lot full of executives lighting cigars on fire and popping champagne with giant swords — you know, fancy people style — because they’re all celebrating how much merchandising money they’re going to make off this thing.

It’s got the kickass-ness of The Iron Giant character with the cuddly-ness of those Minion things children are obsessed with currently.

Plus, it’s wearing a leather jacket.

Baby Groot on Rocket’s shoulder is this year’s BB-8.

“Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters May 5, 2017.
