Jamie Foxx Speaks On The Appearance Of His Character In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′

When it was first announced that Jamie Foxx would be taking the role of Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, most people were more than satisfied. After four movies spent dealing with Goblins, Lizards, and an Octopus, Spider-man was in desperate need of a change from his normal roster of villains.

The only thing that raised some concern was how Electro would look. In the original comics, Electro would always wear a pair of gaudy green and yellow tights, an appearance that doesn’t match the modernized villains and heroes we see on the big screen today.

However, in a recent interview,  Foxx talked about how the look of his character is getting a much needed facelift:

“It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie, so it won’t be green and yellow.

They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen.

How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”

It sounds as though director Marc Webb is going for a more realistic and modern suit for Electro!

My only question is,  will Webb keep rocking that swag-less lighting bolt mask? We hope not!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014 as a part of another all-star lineup of Marvel movies that year!
