After a highly successful 2013, Marvel is in the process of gathering all of the pieces together for 2014’s adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thus far we know that James Gunn will be directing the film, but currently no members of the cast have been confirmed.

According to Latino Review, Marvel is allegedly eyeing Jim Carrey and Adam Sandlerfor roles in the movie!

Though the pair of actors may seem out of place in a sci-fi film to most, it’s likely that Marvel is recruiting them strictly as voice actors for characters like Rocket Raccoon (a talking raccoon who is armed to the teeth) and Groot (a walking, talking tree-like creature).

Both men are extremely talented and have experience with creating distinct voices for all of the characters that they play, so it only makes sense that the studio would go in this direction.

While we’re not positive that these are the roles that they are being considered for, it makes the most sense to us.

Make sure to check back for updates! Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.

How ‘Zoolander’ Influenced Comedy With Its ‘Man-Child-Turned-Man’ Blueprint
