You Probably Missed Peter Parker's First Cameo In The 'Iron Man' Films

With Guardians of the Galaxy 2 fading in the rearview mirror, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has turned its attentions forward to their next summer blockbuster.

Coming this July: the stand-alone film Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is being produced in conjunction with Sony Pictures.

Now, we are aware this is the third variation of the Spider-Man series to be introduced in less than a decade. (It's a long story). But this reboot has gotten a lot of positive press, both for actor Tom Holland's take on the character, as well as the choice to make a deal to have the character be part of the MCU.

With the six-week court press ahead of the film's release in full swing, Tom Holland has been in the hot seat for interviews this week. And without meaning to, he's already given away a spoiler.

Talking to Huff Post, Tom Holland was put on the spot. He was asked to confirm or deny whether a long speculated cameo by a young teenage boy in Iron Man 2, back in 2010, was supposed to be Peter Parker prior to his, erm, conversion.

In the scene, the boy, who looks to be about seven years younger than Parker is now, faces down an Iron Bot while wearing an Iron Man mask. Before he can be killed, Stark drops in behind him and blasts the bot to bits. “Nice work, kid,” he tells the boy as he flies off.

Fans have been wondering for years if that kid might be Peter Parker, who Marvel didn't have the rights to at the time, hence the need to hide the face and not reveal his identity.

Apparently it is! Holland fessed up to Huff Post:

I can confirm that, that is Peter Parker. I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I've just done a big, old spoiler, but it's out there now. It's cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.
