This Tiny Detail In 'GOT' Season 7 Episode 6 Teaser Hints At A Major Death

This post contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 5, as well as potential spoilers for Season 7, Episode 6. Game of Thrones giveth, and Game of Thrones taketh away. This Sunday's Game of Thrones episode, "Eastwatch" finally gave us Gendry back after three seasons of him being in hiding. But this tiny detail spotted by fans in the Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 teaser seems to suggest some bad news for actor Joe Dempsie and Gendry-lovers everywhere.

You've probably seen the trailer for "Death is the Enemy" already, but you might want to look a little closer at one moment in particular: the part where the Hound crushes a skeletal skull with a hammer. At first glance, the shot doesn't seem like such a big deal. So the Hound wails on some dead dude, what else is new, right?

Except... hold on. Why is the Hound using a hammer? And why does that hammer look so much like the prized possession of our beloved Gendry? The only reason I can think Gendry would give up his hammer is if he doesn't need it anymore — because he's dead. You have Reddit user EllaSu to thank for this sinking realization, who wrote, "Why is the hound holding Gendry's hammer??? I didn't wait 4 seasons for Gendry to die right away."

However, some other, more optimistic Reddit users are arguing that's not Gendry's hammer that the Hound is holding. Just because the Hound uses a hammer doesn't mean Genrdy is dead, right? Well, I certainly hope so, but unfortunately, the hammers do look pretty similar to me.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but those hammers look pretty much identical to me. Still, I'll be praying next Sunday that maybe the Hound and Gendry just have some kind of epic-bro team up in which everyone lives. Just this once, Game of Thrones! Everyone lives!
