The 'Gilmore Girls' Revival Is Giving One Of Your Fave Characters A Backstory

by Kate Ryan
Warner Bros. Television

We can all agree it's the off-beat characters that have transformed "Gilmore Girls" from just another sitcom to the hit show we know and love. Now, with the production of the "Gilmore Girls" revival going into full swing, we have even more quirky character side stories to look forward to.

Michel Gerard, one of the most mysterious characters on the show, will finally get the backstory he deserves. Played by Yanic Truesdale, the curmudgeonly and yet adorable Dragonfly Inn concierge will get to reveal a little more about his personal life in the context of the show. In an interview with Us Weekly, Truesdale explained,

We kind of haven't seen Michel outside of work, really. I think very rarely he was outside of the inn. And we didn't know much about his personal life. So this time is different. We know much more... That is nice for me as an actor because it gives me a backstory. But it gives me meat for the character because he, you know, I definitely have an arc and stuff going on in my personal life that affect the character. So the fans can expect to discover more about Michel.

Okay, so what kind of romantic subplot are we talking about here? Truesdale kept quiet on that front, saying,

That I can't answer. But you will definitely find out more about him.

You're mysterious through and through, Michel! I guess we'll just have to take his word for it and keep our eyes peeled when "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" hits Netflix.
