Since retiring from the NFL, Hines Ward hasn’t ventured too far from the football field. Between working as a football analyst for NBC and playing an actual player in The Dark Knight Rises, Hines has remained close to the game he loves.

However, on February 10, Hines Ward will make a giant step outside of his comfort zone and play a zombie extra in an episode of The Walking Dead.

“It was an amazing experience,” Ward said. “Just being in makeup preparing me for my role was cool. I actually scared myself when I looked in the mirror for the first time after.”

“A former Georgia teammate of mine is one of the stars of the show, and my agent thought it would be something fun and different for me to do,” Ward stated.
