Kate McKinnon Gets Emotional Channeling Hillary Clinton: 'I'm Not Giving Up'

YouTube

It was only a couple of weeks ago Kate McKinnon channeled Hillary Clinton and joked about Donald Trump "handing" her the election.

So much has happened since then. And on last night's "Saturday Night Live," she mourned the loss of the presidential candidate she'd been playing for so long.

McKinnon got behind a piano and belted out her rendition of the late Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" to open the show.

It was a powerful and poignant performance, and it must have come straight from the heart because her voice is audibly shaken when she says, at the end,

I'm not giving up, and neither should you.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Because, you know, the world isn't over despite all that's happening.

RIP, Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton. We had some good times.

And who could forget Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump? I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him, but it's sure to be different now. Still, let's take candidate Trump in one last time because besides the fact he looks like a spitting image of the guy, he nailed his mannerisms down to a T.

That expression is everything.

And he owned the famous Trump sniffles.

He had some dynamite lines as well. In a parody of a presidential debate, Baldwin said of creating more jobs,

I've got a very presidential answer for this. Our jobs are fleeing this country. They're going to Mexico. They're going to China. I would stop that. If Hillary knew how, she would have done it already. Period. End of story. I won the debate, I stayed calm, just like I promised, and it is over. Goodnight, Hofstra.

Later on, he butts in with,

My microphone is broken. She broke it. With Obama... Can you hear that, I think it's somebody sniffing here.

Sorrynotsorry, Mr. President-elect.
