Sure, Pretty Little Liars left fans with an endless list of questions heading into the series finale, but there was one that stood out miles ahead of the rest. Who is A.D. on Pretty Little Liars? Well, the finale did not disappoint, as we finally know the answer. Spoilers for the PLL finale ahead. Spencer's twin, Alex Drake, is A.D. on Pretty Little Liars.

Yes, you read that correctly. All this time, Spencer had a twin, and she was the one tormenting the Liars as A.D.

Sure, Spencer having a twin was a top theory (along with now proven innocent A.D. suspects Melissa, Ezra, Lucas, Caleb, and Jenna), but that didn't make the reveal any less shocking — or painful for Spencer. She was utterly devastated to learn this, of course, especially since it happened while she was being trapped in yet another bunker so that Alex could take over her life.

While the real Spencer was chained to a bed, Alex explained that she met Wren while bartending in England, and he told her everything about Spencer and the Hastings. The two fell into a twisted kind of love, Wren introduced her to Charlotte, and watched as Alex tormented the Liars as A.D.

She told Wren that it was all to avenge Charlotte, her murdered sister. She came to Rosewood to find out what happened to Charlotte and get revenge, but then became obsessed with Spencer's life (including Toby). In Alex's mind, Spencer got a perfect life while Alex got nothing, and it was all "luck of the draw."

Clearly, Alex has some issues, and Mary Drake confirmed as much when she told Spencer that Alex's adoptive parents dropped her off at an orphanage when those issues surfaced. What kind of issues? Well, Alex became so committed to being Spencer that she made Wren shoot her in the chest so they'd both have scars, and, because she couldn't bear to break up with Wren, killed him. Oh, and turned his ashes into an "eternity stone" that she wears as a necklace.

Needless to say, PLL fans are shook.

So basically, A.D. was right in front of us this whole time. There were multiple scenes this season that we thought were Spencer, but were actually Alex, like when she ran into Ezra in the airport, or pretty much every time she hooked up with Toby.

You might've seen this twin twist coming, but somehow, that doesn't make the confirmation any less shocking.
