Selena Gomez's stepfather, Brian Teefy, has raised over $100,00 to support the family of Christina Grimmie, who was shot and killed on Friday night.

Teefey — who is married to Selena's mother, Amanda Teefey — was Christina's manager. On a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the Grimmie family, Teefey wrote a heartfelt message to his former friend and client, whom he called "a second daughter."

He wrote,

Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling. I learned this business through the eyes of a father and Christina was like a second daughter to me. All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business. I never could have imagined this horrific event being one of the pitfalls needing to be avoided.

Teefey had worked with Grimmie since she was 14 years old.

Selena Gomez, who is only one year older than Grimmie, had known the late singer most of her life.

Gomez expressed her grief at the senseless killing during her concert in Miami on Saturday. She said to the crowd, fighting back tears,

When she was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed her. One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it's not about a religion and it's not about anything or good deeds. It's just that she had faith, and I don't really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.

Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs after her concert in Orlando on Friday night. The killer, who has been identified by police as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, shot and killed himself after shooting Grimmie.

The attack came just a day before the shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub, the largest mass shooting in US history.

If you are able and willing, you can donate to the Grimmie family here.
