We Know What Ser Jorah Wrote To Daenerys In Last Week’s GOT And It’s So Sad

On the most recent episode of Game of Thrones, just before Samwell Tarly came to the rescue, we saw Ser Jorah writing a letter to Daenerys, saying his final goodbye as he succumbed to greyscale. And thanks to HBO's Making of GoT blog, we finally know what it says:

Khaleesi, I came to the Citadel in the last hope that the Maesters could treat me, as you ordered. Even with all their arts, I am beyond any cure but the grave. I have had a longer life than I deserved, and I only wish I could've lived to see the world you're going to build, standing by your side. I have loved you since the moment I met you.

And the letter, which is downright poetic ("I am beyond any cure but the grave" -- chills), is giving people Feelings.

Tons of people are Here For It when it comes to a potential romance between Dany and Jorah.

It's tragic to watch a man spend what could be his last breaths before the greyscale completely overtakes him writing a letter confessing his rawest feelings. Who among us wouldn't do the same?

He has spent the past few years dedicated to helping Dany conquer the seven kingdoms, and he was afflicted with greyscale when bringing Tyrion Lannister to Dany as a present in order to win back her love and trust. A lot of people are taking to Twitter to express their heartbreak, and even shipping Jorah and his Khaleesi.

A dying man spending his last hours confessing his feelings in writing for his love? Gut wrenching.

But his letter is also sad for a completely different reason.

Jorah wrote a letter -- his last act as a dying man -- to his beloved child Khaleesi: Dany was 15 years old at the beginning of the series (aged up from a mere 13 in the books), whereas Jorah is middle-aged, and by some people's count, about 50 years old. He has loved her, by his own admission, since she was a young teenager.

Even her own feelings for Jorah aren't enough to convince me that this dynamic is healthy or in any way all right, given the skewed power dynamics between a man of his stature and age and someone who was essentially a little girl when they met.

Don't get me wrong. GoT is not even close to the only show on television that romanticizes inappropriate relationships with skewed power dynamics. For instance: The chief relationship in Pretty Little Liars is between a high school student and her dreamy English teacher.

But I just have difficulty understanding those who are shipping the Khaleesi and her adviser. His feelings for Dany are kind of sweet, but also incredibly creepy. He has loved her since he met her. And that doesn't seem like it'll change anytime soon.

If Samwell's hard-to-watch cure does work, there's no doubt that he'll be heading right back to the Breaker of Chains. She's clearly got some kind of hold on him.
