Terminally Ill Singer Spends Her Final Days In Hospice With Her Baby (Photos)

Country music duo and real-life married couple Joey + Rory should be enjoying an active life together, spending time with their daughter, Indiana.

But they aren't. Instead, they are spending their last heartbreaking days as a family in hospice care as 40-year-old Joey Martin Feek slowly ends her fight with terminal cervical cancer.

Her husband and music partner, Rory, recently revealed in an emotional blog post Joey would stop treatment after a year of chemotherapy and radiation.

For now, the family is trying to spend as much time together as possible.

Joey was recently moved into hospice care at the family's home to make her as comfortable as possible in her last days.

Rory said he put a carpet next to her hospice bed so Joey could play with Indiana while she still had strength.

According to a recent blog post, fans of Joey + Rory sent the family recordable books so Joey could read to Indiana in the future.

In a recent post, Rory talked about the difficult past few days the family went through and the decision to alter Joey's care. He wrote,

At 4 am on Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie. Her pain had become too much to bare. A few hours later the doctors told us that the pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us. After a series of different medications that didn't seem to touch the pain – heavy doses of morphine brought Joey sweet relief.

He finished the post saying,

Joey is at peace with where she is and where she's going. So am I.

The couple fittingly recorded themselves singing “When I'm Gone” in 2012, oblivious, at the time, to the emotional gravity this song would soon hold.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fans of this brave fighter.
