Disclaimer: Major spoilers ahead.

This entire season of “Game of Thrones” had been leading up to last night’s episode, “The Mountain and The Viper,” and it did not disappoint.

The entire affair was equal parts vicious bloodshed and captivating drama. The episode was full of riveting betrayals and just as riveting acts of loyalty. There was a ton to digest and a ton that gave me indigestion, and it all ended with a spectacular wallop that has far-reaching implications for the series as a whole.

Of course, we were all waiting on the edges of our seats for the end of the episode. I really thought for a moment there that Oberyn would defeat The Mountain and Tyrion would live on, happily ever after. But clearly, I forgot what type of show “Game of Thrones” is.

It’s one that never opts for the easy way out and one that mercilessly kills off everyone and everything you ever loved. So, really, we should have all seen this one coming.

It’s also a show which is probably best described as a carnival of gore. I don’t know how David Benioff and D.B. Weiss do it, but they always come up with new and innovative ways to extinguish human life. With that in mind, here are the most gruesome, most bloody, most creative kills in the series so far, starting with last night’s head-crushing, face-melting extravaganza.

Fair warning: You may not be able to sleep until next week’s episode after reliving all of these graphic death scenes.

Kazakhstan Bans ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ After Claiming He Is A Violent Influence On Kids

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: Kazakhstan says “SpongeBob SquarePants” negatively influences children. According to the Moscow Times, Zabira Orazaliyeva, the woman in charge of children’s rights at the Kazakh Education and Science Ministry, stated, SpongeBob beats up his neighbor, misbehaves and enjoys that. This hooligan behavior stays in the child’s mind. They [see SpongeBob] as a role model and try to re-enact […]

The Best Memories Are Statistically Proven To Be The Ones You Can’t Remember

Remember that night? You know the one. That one you can’t remember anything about, yet you can still feel everything? The night you can really only remember by feelings you had during it? That feeling of happiness, a contentment you hadn’t felt in a while. And love. You remember feeling all this love. This all-consuming […]

We’re F*cked: Senior Citizens Are Bringing Student Loan Debt With Them Into Retirement

Your student loans may be with you when you have grandchildren and a senior citizen’s discount. According to a frightening report released by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), over 700,000 American households headed by senior citizens still have student loan debt. What’s even scarier is that the number is growing. In 2005, people ages 65 or […]

This Handbag Looks Normal, But Is Actually A Flask That Can Fit A Full Bottle Of Booze

People have been figuring out ways to smuggle alcohol into places ever since we figured out how to convert a bunch of crushed grapes into happy juice, largely because alcohol makes everything more enjoyable (until it ruins your entire life). Most of this “smuggling” has traditionally involved water bottles full of vodka, although there are […]

Science Says We Actually Prefer Chinese Restaurants To Be Disgusting

Apparently we all have a deep psychological need to see ducks hanging in the windows of our favorite Chinese restaurants. A researcher from Stanford University curious about Americans’ need for perceived authenticity in Asian restaurants conducted a study to see whether cleanliness or credibility matter more in the eyes of the diner. Glen Carroll, the study’s […]

If You Took Out Student Loans And Now Have Debt, You Need To Watch This

Class is finally in session, so we should probably check back on the progress our colleges have made in making tuition more affordable. Oh wow, did I say “more affordable?” What I really meant was, “so outrageously expensive that the years to follow will have you scrambling for cash like a hardened financial criminal.” John […]
